I love to read John McDonald, Lee Child. To enjoy finding new authors – suggestions?

I spend several hours reading a day. I pretty much all ready written by John McDonald, Lee Child, and Randy Wanye White. On the lighter side I enyoyed Carl Hiassen and Joanne Fluke pounds. After the run the things through these characters to read (I loved Travis McGee and Doc Ford) I am open to new ideas. I enjoy characters that continue through a series of novels. I like puzzles, a little tension, but not much in the grain of true crime or Stephen King kind of 'scary' stuff.

Trav's head, of course. I like Doc Ford one Part of the time, the best right up there with Trav. Anyway, if you enjoy this type of character set, try these author / hero team: Geoffrey Norman / Morgan Hunt (best Trav clone IMHO, but unfortunately only 3 books – Sweetwater Ranch, Blue Chipper, Deep End, out of print) John Lutz / Fred Carver (10 or 11 pounds, out of print but available bookseller Web sites) Peter Corris / Cliff Hardy more than 30 books, great Aussie (hardboiled PI stories, mostly in Aussie editions available from Amazon or other bookseller Sites), Bob Morris, Zack Chasteen (Bahamarama, Jamaica Me Dead, Bermuda Schwartz) Charles Knief / John Caine (Diamond Head, sand dollars, Emerald Flash, Silver Sword), Donald Hamilton / Matt Helm (very '60s series, well-designed Govt. Killer Adventure underestimated. May not be your cup of tea, but Matt's a tough-guy hero from the same time as Trav. About 30 of them. Hamilton died only last year. Out of print, but available from Amazon, etc.) If you want Hiassen, try Laurence Shames' Key West Yarns SV Date and novels.
