12 Gauge? That's fricken speaker cable! You're seriously driving a 1600-watt amplifier with speaker cable? Yes, the amplifiers are limited. The guy that you are to the wiring kit should not even sell that kit, if he knew what you switched and what he's talking about. Do yourself a fav upgrade – at least 4 gauge to and if your lights dim when the bass hits (which it should, but maybe not because you are) the cable, you might want to add 1.5 to 2 Farad Capacitor think.
